Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners. Similar technologies include local storage (such as IndexedDB), which serves a comparable purpose.
2. How We Use Cookies
Nem uses a minimal approach to cookies and browser storage. We do not use any advertising, marketing, or analytics cookies. We do not track your browsing behavior across websites, and we do not share any data with third-party advertisers.
The only browser storage technologies we use are strictly necessary for the core functionality of our platform — specifically, to keep you securely signed in to your account.
3. Types of Cookies and Storage We Use
Strictly Necessary (Authentication)
These are essential for the operation of our platform. Without them, you would not be able to sign in or use authenticated features. Under GDPR and similar regulations, strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent because they are essential for providing the service you have requested.
| Technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| IndexedDB (firebaseLocalStorage) | Firebase Authentication (Google) | Stores your authentication session so you remain signed in between visits | Until you sign out or clear browser data |
Cookies We Do NOT Use
To be fully transparent, the following types of cookies are not used on the Nem platform:
- Analytics cookies — We do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other analytics service
- Advertising/marketing cookies — We do not serve ads or track you for advertising purposes
- Social media cookies — We do not embed social media tracking widgets
- Third-party tracking cookies — No third parties place tracking cookies through our platform
4. Do We Need Cookie Consent?
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, and similar privacy laws, websites are required to obtain user consent before setting non-essential cookies. However, strictly necessary cookies are exempt from this consent requirement.
Since Nem only uses strictly necessary authentication storage to keep you signed in — and does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies — we are not required to display a cookie consent banner. We are, however, committed to transparency, which is why we provide this policy.
5. Managing Your Browser Storage
Even though we only use essential storage, you can control how your browser handles cookies and site data. Please note that clearing this data will sign you out of your Nem account.
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, Search, and Services > Clear Browsing Data
6. Third-Party Services
Our authentication system is powered by Firebase Authentication (Google). Firebase uses IndexedDB in your browser to persist your authentication session locally. This data stays on your device and is not sent to any third party for tracking or advertising purposes.
For more information about how Firebase handles data, you can review the Firebase Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever introduce additional cookies or tracking technologies, we will update this policy and implement appropriate consent mechanisms as required by law. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
8. Contact Information
